Cleanse gently
Enough to lift sunscreen, makeup and the day — not so much that skin feels squeaky or tight. Lukewarm water, no scrubbing. On a treatment day, a plain water rinse is often all you need.
Facial massage does its work in the room. Between appointments, the job at home is simpler: keep skin clean, hydrated, comfortable and protected, so every treatment starts from a good place.
Why it matters
You do not need a long shelf of products to get a comfortable result from Kobido and facial massage. What helps most is a short routine you will actually keep up: gentle cleansing, one hydrating step, a moisturizer that leaves skin comfortable, and daily sun protection.
Home care supports cleansing, hydration, moisturization, comfort and UV protection between appointments. It does not “hold” a result, remove lines, or replace professional treatment — and it should never leave your skin feeling tight, stinging or irritated.
The how
Enough to lift sunscreen, makeup and the day — not so much that skin feels squeaky or tight. Lukewarm water, no scrubbing. On a treatment day, a plain water rinse is often all you need.
One hydrating step — a hydrating toner or a single lightweight serum — patted onto slightly damp skin, then sealed. Resist stacking three serums; one, used consistently, does more.
A moisturizer rich enough that skin feels comfortable morning and night. Go heavier in a Calgary winter and as skin gets drier; lighter, gel-cream textures suit oilier skin.
Broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 as the last step of your morning routine, every day, cloudy or clear. This is the highest-value habit on the page — and it is not included in most take-home skincare sets.
A simple day
Gentle cleanse or rinse → hydrating step on damp skin → moisturizer → sunscreen last.
Cleanse → one hydrating or one treatment step (not both) → moisturizer.
Keep it minimal. Skip scrubs, acids, retinoids and strong actives for a few days. If skin feels tight, flushed or extra-dry, reach for a plain soothing moisturizer you already know — not a new product. Give saunas, hot yoga and long sun exposure a day or two, and drink water.
By skin type
By life stage
These are general patterns, not rules. Your own skin, the season, a Calgary winter and your health history matter more than any range.
Skin is often still fairly robust here. The work is consistency that pays off later: gentle cleansing, a daily hydrating step, and sunscreen every morning without fail. Toward the top of this range, some people notice skin drying out a little faster — add or richen the moisturizer when it does.
For many people this is the perimenopause window: skin makes less of its own oil, holds less water and its barrier is disrupted more easily. Move the routine toward comfort — a richer moisturizer, a dedicated hydrating step, nothing stripping — and keep sunscreen daily. Introduce new actives slowly.
Skin is usually drier, thinner and slower to settle. Favour a cream cleanser or a simple rinse, layer hydration under a rich moisturizer, wear sunscreen every day, and add any new product one at a time over several weeks rather than all at once.
Getting a routine
If you would like help, we can put together a small take-home set to suit your skin type and the time of year, or simply look over the routine you already use and flag anything that might be working against your treatments. Ask at your next appointment.
Good to know
On most days, yes, if your skin already tolerates them. For the two to three days right after a treatment, pause retinoids, glycolic, lactic and salicylic acids and scrubs, then return to them once skin feels normal.
Usually the same day. Many people prefer to leave skin bare that evening so it can rest. Apply sunscreen first if you are heading outdoors.
Yes. UV reaches skin on cloudy and cold days, and snow reflects it back up. A broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 every morning is the most useful habit here, and most take-home sets do not include one.
Comfort and hydration usually improve within a couple of weeks of consistent, gentle care. Home care supports how skin feels between appointments — it does not remove lines, hold a result or replace professional treatment.
We can tailor a simple between-treatment routine to your skin and the season, or review what you already use.
